UV-Index - The easiest guide to effective sun protection

Updated: Jul 30, 2023

Especially in spring, when the sun shines really beautifully for the first time, we want to soak up every ray of sunshine. It immediately lifts our mood, we are more awake and active. However, the intensity of solar radiation at this time is often underestimated. Not only in summer the sun can cause skin damage. The UV index helps us to correctly assess the intensity of the sun throughout the year.

What does the UV-Index say?

The UV index ranges from 1 - 11+! It indicates the intensity of the sun and the risk of damage to the skin and eyes from its radiation. The higher the index, the more intense and harmful the radiation, and the faster damage occurs.

The WHO recommends

to use sun protection from a UV index of 3 or higher. This includes, for example, a hat, clothing, sunglasses or umbrella. The UV index is intended as a guideline that does not take into account your own skin type.

You probably often wonder what the UV index is at right now....

Where can I find the current UV Index?

The easiest way to get the current UV index is to use the weather app on your smartphone. It shows the current UV index.
