What are antioxidants and why do we need them?
Antioxidants protect our cells from free radicals.
Free radicals cause damage to our vessels, organs and make our skin age. On the one hand, they arise from within through metabolic processes, on the other hand from the outside, e.g. through sun, alcohol, unhealthy diet or smoking.
Antioxidants can not only bind free radicals, they can even prevent them from forming.
People with progeria, for example, have no protection against free radicals and therefore age much faster than people who do not have the disease.
