Sauna hacks for your Beauty - Simple hacks for hair care and fresh, rosy skin while you relax

Updated: Feb 29, 2024

It is not without reason that saunas, hammams and steam baths are commonplace in many cultures.

In addition to mental relaxation, it brings a variety of positive effects on our bodies.

What positive effects does the sauna have on our body?

Sauna loosens the muscles, strengthens our immune system, gets the blood flow going, can lower blood pressure and through this positive effect on our cardiovascular system, possibly even extend our life.

What positive effects does sauna have on our skin?

Sauna opens our pores and stimulates skin circulation („cutaneous perfusion“).

We can use the warmth, the steam and the pore-opening effect for beauty care and enhance it with really simple hacks. While you relax, the scrub and hair treatment work by themselves. With no extra effort, you can give your skin a deep freshness boost and your hair an effective extra dose of care.

How can I use the sauna for beauty care?

What you need

1. A gentle exfoliant

Apply a gentle exfoliant* before going to the sauna. Massage it in lightly while using the sauna. Make sure that it does not contain any strong (irritating) ingredients, as this could cause irritation in combination with the hot air. Only do this at one sauna session.

Enjoy the peace and quiet, the warmth, let the steam work. Stay as long as you feel comfortable (max. 15 minutes are recommended).

Rinse off your face preferably, like the rest of the body, with cold water. This will give your skin a wonderful kick and stimulate the skin's blood circulation.

Your skin will most likely be red at first due to the increased blood flow. When it has regulated itself, your skin will look deeply cleansed, fresh and rosy.

2. Hair treatment

You can perfectly use the time in the sauna for hair care.

Apply a hair treatment* before going to the sauna. Then it can work in long enough and the warmth helps it penetrate better and deeper into your hair. Totally easy with no extra time.

When you’re done rinse off the treatment and use a conditioner to seal the hair. The same applies here: Best is to rinse your hair with cold water! It seals the cuticle and brings brilliance!

Sauna with pre-existing diseases and infections

Do not use the sauna if you have an infection. Apart from the risk of infecting others, the strain from the infection is already enough for your body.

In the case of pre-existing diseases, especially those related to the cardiovascular system, clarify in advance with a doctor to what extent sauna is suitable for you.

Sauna-Basics

Sauna is recommended 1-2 times a week with 2-3 sessions, not more often as sauna is also a strain on the body.

Rinse off before going to the sauna!

Stay in the sauna as long as you feel good, recommended max. 15 minutes.

The sauna is a relaxation area. Therefore no constant or loud conversations.

Beginners are best to start with one of the lower benches; it gets hotter upwards. If you lie down, sit up again for 1-2 minutes before leaving the sauna to stabilize your circulation.

The break should be about as long as the sauna session.

Take a cold shower after the sauna.

Don't forget to drink water after the sauna or between sauna sessions! ;)

Maybe an extra bathrobe or large dry towel for the break
